Natalie Portman got so flustered by her crying baby son she paid for her fellow diners' food in a restaurant, it has been reported.
The actress is said to have popped into Los Angeles deli Flore Vegan for lunch with her one-year-old child Aleph, but was left red-faced when the little boy began to cry immediately after she sat down.
According to sources, the Oscar-winning star tried everything in her power to console the tot but nothing worked.
Eventually an embarrassed Natalie asked staff to pack up her lunch as a takeaway and paid for three of the other tables' food to make up for the commotion.
"Her fellow diners were grateful, but protested - saying kids cry sometimes and Aleph wasn't that bothersome. But Natalie, apologising profusely, insisted on paying their tab of nearly $150, then left them to veg in peace," a source told The National Enquirer.
